You think of all that you have learned and how you’ve come so far The dream that you are living now was once a distant star. The obstacles you made it through, the blood and sweat and tears How the faint small voice within you helped to overcome your fears.
And now it’s time to rest you think from all that you’ve been through But that still small voice within you says "You’ve another job to do. For there are those who long and hope to fulfill their dreams someday So share your words, help clear the path so others might find their way."
"You have so much to offer now, it’s a shame to let it lay Go within you, find the strength to begin it now, today. And use your sweet life lessons, with others you can share And help as many as you can to also make it there."
This guidance rings within you, knowing deep you can’t ignore It’s this same small voice that got you through when you felt so weak before. You go within and seek the strength to help all those out there Who really seek your guidance and the following you share....
"The answers are available to any who will seek Just take the time and go within when you are feeling weak. The blessings are unlimited with so much left to spare When things seem hard just persevere, and you too, will get there."
"Find within you Gratitude no matter how things seem Express it each and every day while working toward your dream. And magically as you express all things your grateful for The key you seek will then appear that opens up the door."
"Your life long dreams will be attained if only you'll believe Just focus on them daily and soon you will achieve. All the things you long for and all you dream to do Just persevere and keep on going and soon you’ll see it through."
"All these things will manifest that you have dreamt to do If you will only follow this plan that’s laid for you. Just keep it fresh upon your mind and daily go within Above all else don’t ever quit and you will surely win!"
"And when you reach that pinnacle, stop a while and rest But jump back in and show the way to all those who request. By following this guidance and helping all you can You will have fulfilled your purpose and the Universal Plan."
We each were sent here for a time a mission to complete False teachings learned along the way we must now learn to delete. And each must search and find within their own unbiased truth And recall the reason you were sent, which you knew once in your youth.
"The guidance you've received today will take you toward your dream Just follow each and every word, no matter how things seem. And keep your desire in focus, hold the outcome in your mind Ignore those who'd belittle you and your treasure you will find."
An "Inner Knowing" lights your path as you're shown what is to be The steps to take are "crystal clear" the plan is plain to see. You start to take the steps toward your ever perfect plan With an unexplainable "knowingness" uncommon for a man.
The excitement that’s within you grows as your dreams start taking form Some days seem so effortless while some you bare the storm. But on those days you persevere, stay focused and believe Remembering the voice within that promised you'd achieve.
Those times the dark clouds gather and it seems you can’t get through And all those in your circle say, "There’s nothing you can do." You dig down deep within you, find some energy somewhere And keep on trudging forward cause you know you’re almost there.
When the seeds that you’ve been sowing just won’t seem to grow So much time and effort spent with so little fruit to show. With the tools that you’ve discovered, you nurture them with care Then keep on planting more and more, knowing soon you will be there.
Regardless of what others say, you think back on that day Reflecting now upon the price you knew you’d have to pay. You refocus on your vision all the good you have to share And keep your fire burning cause you’re sure your almost there.
When you’re feeling worn and tired and you’re ready to give in Your worldly thoughts start telling you there’s no way you can win. You visualize the sunny skies don’t fall into despair And keep on taking baby steps cause you know you’re almost there.
And then one day it happens, the light starts breaking through All the effort you’ve put forward starts producing what you knew. The joy you feel inside you shows, excitement fills the air Your proud of your accomplishments cause now you’ve made it there.
Through your determination and the guidance that you sought The answers came upon you, when you were least distraught. The guidance that you longed for could never make it through When the sabotaging doubts and fears were indwelling you.
When you look back on the challenges this goal has put you through You see them now as benefits, it’s because of them you grew. You’ve learned that fear and anguish block the guidance that you sought That those few times you felt cut off were due to your own thought.
Emotions stir your thoughts run wild they shout for you to "Cease" But the more you seek, and the more you find, the more you feel at peace. Your search goes on new truths revealed with every passing day How could it be those childhood lessons have caused you to lose your way?
Confusion mounts frustration grows as you seek to find what’s right The road seems dark and lonely as you journey toward your plight. But soon the fog starts lifting and as you learn to clear your mind A faint little voice within you says "Keep seeking and you’ll find."
You keep on searching deeper, you know the answer's there You ask your God to help you, and say a little prayer. And then one day that inner voice speaks up once again "All the answers that you're seeking, can be found if you'll look within."
"It's outside interference that keeps truth from coming through Just go within, grow quiet child, and you'll discover what is true. Your struggle to awaken is due to your own choice It's due to all the noise out there that drowns the "inner voice."
"Discern and differentiate the teachings of your youth The limiting and false beliefs you now perceive as truth. It is due to man made teachings that make your spirit tire For they are such that interfere with achieving your desires."
"You've been told the dreams that you hold dear are far beyond your means That what you long to experience is reserved for kings and queens Your only limitations are based on what you believe Shed these limitations learned and you will soon achieve."
"Awaken and become aware of all you say and think Doing so will provide you with that one last missing link For it is these that shape your outcomes each and every day Learn to change them starting now and you'll have found your way."
"As you learn to discipline your thoughts and rambling mind Each answer that you seek today, you will surely find. Then learn to recognize the voice that leads you on your way Take action on it's guidance, and do so without delay."
"Discover how to separate from falsehoods you perceive as truth Those false beliefs that you were taught and absorbed while in your youth. Now walk the path and take the steps I've revealed to you today Be persistent, persevere and you will find your way."
"There will be days that you will doubt what you have learned today Just understand that life will throw some obstacles your way. But as they come just realize and deep within you know Each of them is happening as a means to help you grow."
A True To Life Poem About Life's Journey By Chuck Danes
"Life's Journey Poem: Recalling Your Life Purpose"
Each of us is sent here with a purpose to unfold Each given only so much time to complete before you’re old. Upon arrival you are sure of the plan to be unfurled But as you grow you then absorb the teachings of the world.
You’re taught about the things in life, what’s real and right and true You’re told by those that love you most what you’re suppose to do. You're taught about what’s right and wrong based on what they believe To often shown your limitations, not what you can achieve.
You continue on your journey and do the best you can To follow this direction, these established ways of man. You stay within the boundaries of these things you're told are true Knowing little of the damage long term that they can do.
Through this ensuing process your memories get weak Your once held purpose since replaced, with the material things you seek. The plan that you were sent here for, now a distant memory It’s the earthly teaching you’ve received that makes it faint you see.
As life goes on you start to sense that you have lost your way Not realizing yet that false beliefs have brought you here today. Achieving all that they have claimed would bring you happiness There’s still a hunger deep within, these "things" cannot suppress.
You search for deeper meaning, you long to find the truth Not just what others say is right and taught you in your youth. But true answers to your questions that point you toward the light Which lead you toward that once known path, and brings your purpose back in sight.
You’ve come upon a place in life, there’s unrest in your soul The path that you’ve been following leaves you feeling less than whole. You begin to seek your purpose, that which you were sent to do You reflect on many things you’ve learned but few of them ring true.
So many things that you were taught you find to be untrue Innocently by those you love who taught you all they knew. The more you learn the more your mind resists this newfound news It goes against what’s stored within and creates conflicting views.
If successful, Pérez's bill would create an opportunity for Los Angeles or other cities to annex Vernon and add its huge base of businesses. Maria Elena Durazo, head of the powerful Los Angeles County Federation of Labor, submitted a letter Tuesday asking that language from the Los Angeles City Council resolution advocating annexation be removed.
Los Angeles Councilwoman Janice Hahn removed any talk of annexation from the motion approved Tuesday, but she and other council members indicated they planned to discuss the issue later. Councilwoman Jan Perry said she was still interested in exploring annexation further.
Numerous cities throughout southeast Los Angeles County are buzzing about the future of Vernon, which has long been viewed as one of the wealthiest and most powerful municipalities in the area.
Two officials from Maywood, which is facing federal investigation, attended Tuesday's meeting and said they supported the disincorporation bill. Leaders in City of Commerce have also formally discussed the bill, and Pérez said he was aware of interest in Huntington Park and the unincorporated area of East Los Angeles.
But Pérez said his top priority at this point was eliminating what he described as an "unprecedented and unequaled level of corruption" in Vernon's municipal government.
Opponents of the bill, however, questioned Pérez's intentions. Some said they believed the bill was an attempt to seize Vernon's tax base.
"Speaker Pérez has a vendetta against the city of Vernon," said Stan Stosel, a coordinator with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 47. "This is a naked power grab."
No officials from Vernon spoke at the council meeting, but several local business owners said the city was serious about running its government in a more open way. Juliet Goff, who runs a manufacturing company in Vernon, said disincorporation would bring higher taxes and electricity rates that would make "small businesses like mine disappear."
She continued: "There are ways to fix [Vernon] without destroying it."
Tensions ran high throughout much of Tuesday's hearing. Council President Eric Garcetti repeatedly asked the crowd to refrain from jeering, and police officers had to stop an argument between a labor leader and another man.
At another point, Vernon City Administrator Mark Whitworth shouted loudly at Pat McOsker, the president of the United Firefighters of Los Angeles. McOsker had remarked that Los Angeles offered a superior fire department to Vernon's and characterized Vernon's department as anti-union.
Whitworth, who is also Vernon's fire chief, declined an interview request Tuesday afternoon, but a city spokesman, Fred MacFarlane, said that McOsker's claims were "false and disrespectful."
Vernon also released a statement Tuesday stating that Pérez's bill would violate the state Constitution and "improperly disenfranchise the voters of Vernon." The release cited an elite group of law firms that the city has hired to try to defeat the bill.
The city has also launched an expensive advertisement campaign and hired a powerful team of lobbyists to try to derail the legislation.
Pérez said that state and federal case law supported his legislation and argued that he could accomplish disincorporation without harming businesses. "Nobody takes the issue of jobs more seriously than me," he said.
L.A. City Council Backs Plan To Dissolve Vernon's Cityhood

With the future of Vernon on the line, everyone seems to want a piece of the small but wealthy industrial city.
On Tuesday, the battle over the city's fate moved to Los Angeles City Hall, where the City Council voted unanimously to support a bill in the Legislature that would dissolve Vernon and make it an unincorporated part of Los Angeles County. The bill would leave Vernon's sizable and coveted tax base up for grabs, and several surrounding cities are expected to be interested in annexation.
But Vernon is not going down without a fight. City backers bused workers from Vernon to City Hall for a rally against disincorporation before the council meeting. Inside the chambers, the action grew heated when Vernon's city administrator shouted at an L.A. firefighters union official whom he said had disrespected his town.
During the protest, the bill's author, Assembly Speaker John Pérez, gathered heavyweights inside City Hall — including Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, Los Angeles County Sheriff Lee Baca and County Supervisor Gloria Molina — to showcase support for Vernon's dissolution. The group cited a history of public corruption charges as well as longstanding accusations that Vernon lacks a legitimate electorate because the leaders there are able to hand-pick residents.
Molina called Vernon a company town "masquerading as a city," adding: "They have a lot of money; they will hire very expensive lawyers to fight this all the way, if needed, to the Supreme Court. That is what they will do. They will resist any change whatsoever."
Pérez said the bill, AB 46, had already garnered support from 69 assemblymen and 23 state senators. It is expected to be considered by the Assembly's local government committee later this month and could come up for vote in September.
The Los Angeles City Council ultimately sided strongly with Pérez, despite vehement arguments from Vernon business owners and labor leaders that the bill would cause a loss in jobs.
The debate underscored the intense interest in the 5.2-square-mile industrial city, which has come under fire in the months since The Times revealed high salaries and other benefits paid to top officials. One administrator, Eric T. Fresch, made as much as $1.65 million in 2008. Fresch still works for the city as a legal consultant.
But Vernon is also an important commercial hub, supporters say, with about 1,800 businesses and some 50,000 workers. The city also operates an electric utility and has its own police and fire departments. It has projected $295 million in revenues for the current fiscal year.
"Many business owners have said 'if the city goes away, so do we,'" said Peter Corselli, who manages a cold storage business in Vernon.
It's tempting to buy toys for only $1. But there's definitely a trade-off in quality. Many dollar-store toys are cheaply made and they can be dangerous when they break.
Baby toys should generally be avoided because they will go directly into the mouth, and dollar-store toys may have unsafe levels of lead and phthalates, which are a class of chemicals found in soft plastics.
You may be able to get these cheaper elsewhere. For example, our nearby dollar store sells Green Giant canned vegetables and Goya beans for $1 a can. But we found the exact same items at Walmart for less, and generic brands at even bigger savings. Dollar-store cake and brownie mixes come in smaller packages so watch the unit price. Also, you should keep an eye on the expiration dates on food at the dollar store. They may be near or past their freshness date.
Consumer Reports warns that dollar store electronics and extension cords may have fake UL labels and could be unsafe. It's better to spend a little extra for quality and safety. Also, cheap batteries may be prone to leakage, or may not run your gadgets as long as pricier brands. Many dollar stores sell carbon-zinc batteries which are less efficient than the alkaline variety.
Whether you need to stuff Easter baskets or Valentine's day boxes, or you simply want to deck the halls for your favorite holiday, you might save a few bucks at the dollar store.
Seasonal paper plates and napkins (i.e. with pumpkins or Santa Claus on them) are also a good deal -- we found packs of 20 for $1. On decorations, bargains can be hit-or-miss and subject to opinion. For example, we found a set of icicle ornaments that looked beautiful on our tree this year, but the imitation pine wreaths looked too cheap and scraggly for our taste.
Babies are expensive from the very beginning. The cheapest pregnancy test at our local Walgreens cost $8. But you can get one at the dollar store for a buck. Both are 99% effective, both test for hormone levels with similar sensitivity. And at $1 a pop, you can afford to test and re-test as much as you like if you simply don't believe your eyes.
Consumer Reports warns that aspirin and other medications may be left on the shelf past their expiration dates. It also points out that some labels may not say where the medicine was manufactured.
While there haven't been any safety concerns about dollar-store meds, generic aspirin from your local pharmacy or supermarket is probably a better bet -- and may not cost too much more.
You can get a 20-foot roll of gift wrap at the dollar store for a buck, while you'll pay at least three times that at big-box and party-supply stores. Gift bags cost up to $5 at other stores, depending on size. But at the dollar store, all sizes are $1. We also found huge savings on tissue paper, up to 75% off prices elsewhere. And don't forget the Scotch tape!
Don't scoop up your vitamins at the dollar store. Consumer Reports found that dollar-store multi-vitamins didn't always have the amount of nutrients claimed on the label. And others didn't dissolve fast enough to be absorbed by the body. You may be better off getting vitamins from a well-known store brand, such as Rite Aid, Walgreens or CVS.
Greeting cards are nice, but are they really worth $4? We think it's the thought or sentiment that counts, not what you spend. Our local dollar store has a big selection of cards for every occasion, at 50-cents each. They're good-quality, too, so the recipient won't even guess that you scrimped.
While the dollar store has decent deals on many school supplies, we didn't find them to be much better than the prices at Walmart.
For pencils, notebooks, highlighters, crayons, glue sticks, scissors, sticky notes and more, it's best to stock up when they go on sale during back-to-school season (August-September). The rest of the year, you can hit either the dollar store or Walmart with confidence
When you're trying to save money, the dollar store can seem like a magical place. Abracadabra, everything's a buck or less! But just because something's inexpensive doesn't make it a good buy at such retail establishments.
Party Supplies: Dollar Store Deal
We went shopping to find out what's a good deal at the dollar store, and what's not:
Everything from party invitations to decorations to balloons are worth buying at the dollar store. For instance, foil balloons easily run from $3 to $8 a pop at party-supply stores, gift shops and supermarkets. But you can get them for $1 each -- helium included -- at the dollar store.
Goodie bags, party favors and color-coordinated paper plates, napkins, cups and plastic cutlery are also a good buy.
According to the Good Housekeeping Institute, the cleaners you buy at the dollar store work just fine. You probably won't find many name brands, but the ingredients are similar -- though perhaps more diluted. For everyday cleaning, they should do the trick. (For tougher cleaning jobs, you may have to spring for something more heavy-duty.)

April Fools' Day is celebrated all around the world on the April 1 of every year. Sometimes referred to as All Fools' Day, April 1 is not a national holiday, but is widely recognized and celebrated as a day where everyone plays all kinds of jokes and foolishness. The day is marked by the commission of good humoured or funny jokes, hoaxes, and other practical jokes of varying sophistication on friends, family members, teachers, neighbors, work associates, etc.
Traditionally, in some countries such as New Zealand, Ireland, the UK, Australia, and South Africa, the jokes only last until noon, and someone who plays a trick after noon is called an "April Fool".[1]
Elsewhere, such as in France, Italy, South Korea, Japan, Russia, The Netherlands, Germany, Brazil, Canada, and the U.S., the jokes last all day. The earliest recorded association between April 1 and foolishness can be found in Chaucer's Canterbury Tales (1392). Many writers suggest that the restoration of the January 1 as New Year's Day in the 16th century was responsible for the creation of the holiday, but this theory does not explain earlier references.
WASHINGTON – The Federal Aviation Administration changed air traffic control work schedules Saturday, acknowledging it has a widespread problem with fatigue after another controller fell asleep on duty — this time in Miami.
"We are taking important steps today that will make a real difference in fighting air traffic controller fatigue. But we know we will need to do more. This is just the beginning," FAA Administrator Randy Babbitt said in a statement.
On Monday, Babbitt and Paul Rinaldi, president of the National Air Traffic Controllers Association, will begin visiting air traffic control facilities to hear what controllers have to say and to remind them that sleeping on the job won't be tolerated. Their first stop is Atlanta, home of the world's busiest airport.
The latest sleeping incident — the fifth to be disclosed by FAA since late March — occurred just before 5 a.m. Saturday morning at a busy regional radar facility that handles high altitude air traffic for much of Florida, portions of the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea.
According to a preliminary review of air traffic tapes, the controller did not miss any calls from aircraft and there was no impact on flight operations, the FAA said. The controller, who was working an overnight shift, has been suspended.
Prior to the start of the shift, all controllers were given a briefing on professionalism and the importance of reporting to work fit for duty, FAA said. The incident was reported to a manager by another controller, the agency said. There were 12 controllers on duty and two managers, it said.
Rinaldi said the Miami incident was particularly disturbing because there was ample staff on duty at the time.
"It is never acceptable when we don't provide the level of service expected and required of us on every shift," he said. "We take our responsibilities very seriously and believe fatigue is a significant factor in these instances."
Regional radar centers are usually large rooms, but each controller has a cubicle. Because of the layout, a controller can accidently doze off without being noticed.
It has been known for decades that fatigue is rampant among controllers. FAA rules forbid any sleeping on the job, even during breaks. Employees who violate those rules can be fired. But present and former controllers told The Associated Press that unsanctioned napping at night is an open secret within the agency.
At a radar facility, one controller may nap while the other handles two radar positions. At an airport tower, one may handle takeoffs and landings while the other sleeps. Then, they would swap.
Many supervisors look the other way when controllers trade turns working their assignments to nap because they know how tiring controllers' schedules are, said retired controller Rick Perl of Oxnard, Calif.
"It has always been a problem," said Perl, who at one time was an instructor at FAA's academy for new controllers in Oklahoma City, Okla. "There is no way you can get off at 2 p.m. in the afternoon and be back at 10 p.m. at night and get decent sleep."
Most tiring are the midnight shifts, which usually begin about 10 p.m. and end about 6 a.m. Staying awake during those hours disrupts the body's natural sleep rhythms, sleep scientists say.
A new fatigue study by FAA and the National Air Traffic Controllers Association, which has not yet been released, found that one of the most tiring schedules worked by controllers is a week of midnight shifts, followed by a week of early morning shifts and then a week of swing shifts that start in the afternoon and wind up at night. The schedule doesn't give controllers time to adjust to any one set of waking and sleeping hours.
Another schedule compresses five eight-hour work days into as few days as possible, concluding with a day shift that ends about 2 p.m. and a midnight shift that begins about 10 p.m. Some controllers like the schedule because when they conclude the fifth shift they have three and a half days off before they have report back to work. But the schedule is also known as the "rattler" because it doubles back and bites those who work it.
The study's chief recommendation is that controllers be allowed sleeping breaks of as long as 2 1/2 hours during midnight shifts. Some other countries — including Germany and Japan — provide sleeping rooms for controllers on break at night.
Babbitt said the changes to controllers' schedules will be implemented within 72 hours, but he didn't describe the changes.
Earlier this week, FAA announced it was ending its practice of single-staffing control towers at 26 airports and a radar facility where traffic is light between midnight and 6 a.m. The head of the FAA's air traffic operations resigned.
The agency also will commission an independent review of its training curriculum and qualifications "to make sure our new controllers have mastered the right skills and learned the right disciplines before they start their careers," Babbitt and Rinaldi said in a column posted late Friday on the USA Today website.
A member of the Tea Party has sent a racist email with a picture of Barack Obama and his parents as chimpanzees, it has been revealed.
The email sent by Marilyn Davenport, a Southern California Tea Party activist and member of the central committee of the Orange County Republican Party, was titled: 'Now you know why - no birth certificate.'
The attached picture showed a mocked-up photo of the President as a baby chimpanzee being held by his so-called parents - also chimps in human clothing.
Racist: The email, which included a picture of the Obama family as chimps, was sent by Marilyn Davenport, a Southern California Tea Party activist
It was sent to fellow conservatives, one of whom then leaked it to the press.
When contacted by Orange County Weekly Ms Davenport said the email had been a 'joke.'
'You're not going to make a big deal about this are you?' she said before adding: 'Oh, come on! Everybody who knows me knows that I am not a racist.
'It was a joke. I have friends who are black. Besides, I only sent it to a few people - mostly people I didn't think would be upset by it.'
When approached Davenport said the email, which was sent to fellow conservatives, had been a 'joke'. 'I have friends who are black' she added
But her fellow Republicans aren't seeing the funny side.
Scott Baugh, chairman of the OC Republican Party, told Ms Davenport that the email was 'tasteless.'
'When I saw that email today I thought it was despicable,' Mr Baugh told OC Weekly.
'It is dripping with racism and it does not promote the type of message Orange County Republicans want to deliver to the public.
'I think she should consider stepping down as an elected official,' he added.
Michael J Schroeder, an Orange County resident and former chairman of the California Republican Party, was also not amused.
'This is a three strikes situation for Marilyn Davenport,' Mr Schroeder told the paper.
Mayor Grose, right, sent round the watermelon field email just in time for President Obama's inauguration
'She was a passionate defender of former Newport Beach city councilman Dick Nichols who stated that he was voting against putting in more grass at Corona del Mar's beach because, he said, there were already "too many Mexicans on the beach."
'She was also on the wrong side of the fence with the Los Alamitos mayor and his White House watermelon patch picture.
'Now, she has managed to top both of those incidents by comparing African Americans to monkeys.
'She has disgraced herself and needs to resign. If she doesn't, the Republican Party must remove her,' he added.
The Watermelon-gate email, which depicted a watermelon field in front of the White House, was sent by Los Alamitos Mayor Dean Grose, another Orange County Republican, in February 2009 - just in time for President's Obama's inauguration.
Outrage Around Homeless Mom Charged For Sending Her Son To A Better School
Mon Apr 25, 5:25 pm ET By Liz Goodwin for "The Lookout-News Blog"
Education activists are rallying around a homeless woman who may face jail time for enrolling her son in kindergarten under a friend's address. Supporters say the woman's story is yet another dismaying example of inequality in the U.S. education system.
Tanya McDowell, a homeless single mother from Bridgeport, is charged with first-degree larceny and conspiracy to commit first-degree larceny for signing up her 5-year-old son to attend nearby Norwalk schools under the address of a friend. (Her son went to the school for four months. Her friend has been evicted from public housing for letting McDowell use her address.) McDowell may face up to 20 years in prison and a $15,000 fine if convicted.
Gwen Samuel, a Connecticut education activist, is organizing a press conference to try to get the charges dropped and raise awareness about parents who are criminally prosecuted, rather than dealt with individually by the school district, for using false addresses.
She says she expects a few hundred people to show up at Norwalk superior court at 9 a.m. Wednesday, including Kelley Williams-Bolar (pictured), the Akron, Ohio-based mom who made national news in January, when she was jailed for using her father's address to send her kids to a better-performing school. Bolar's story ignited a debate about inequalities in the public education system, where poorer parents must send their kids to poorer schools because much of the funding is on the local level.
"This will continue to happen--this will set a precedent and districts will be like, 'OK I found a new way to get my money back, let's go after them,'" Samuel tells The Lookout.
Boyce Watkins, a Syracuse university professor and activist, tells The Lookout that Williams-Bolar heard about McDowell's case and wanted to support her. "Kelley called me and said, 'I can't believe they're doing this to her, how can I help?'" She's now on her way to Connecticut, and her trip is paid for by Samuel's newly founded non-profit Connecticut Parents Union.
"First it happens to Kelley, then it happens to Tanya--they both happen to be poor black mothers trying to find a way to provide a better life for their children," Watkins said.
Samuel says McDowell "absolutely" sent her son to the Norwalk kindergarten because she knew it was better than the schools in nearby Bridgeport. "If you could see ... where he is now compared to Brookside, you'd see why I chose Norwalk," McDowell told the Daily Norwalk of her son's new school, Thomas Hooker Elementary School in Bridgeport.
"There has to be a penalty for stealing our services," school board president Jack Chiaramonte countered in The Daily Norwalk.
McDowell, who used to work in food services, told the Stamford Advocate she occasionally stayed in a Norwalk homeless shelter--but she didn't register there, which would have made her son eligible to attend the school. "I had no idea whatsoever that if you enroll your child in another school district, it becomes a crime," the 33-year-old told the paper.
Parents are rarely criminally prosecuted for using false addresses.

-----------------------------------------------------------------MY THOUGHT ON THIS:
This is so sad and outrageous!!
This could have happened to any one of us Mother's. This lady had no idea that she was doing anything wrong and should not be punished for it. She was just trying to help her child get a good education and any one of us would have done the same thing or more for our child(ren). I feel all that they should have done was let her know that her son could not attend the school that she enrolled him in. Also they should have never kicked the other lady out of her housing complex because she tried to help her friend; not knowing that what she was doing was wrong.
I truly hope and pray that her case is dropped and dismissed ASAP and that she will not be jailed. This judge is just trying to make an example out of her and what she unknowingly did. They always do this to black people and it should be stopped. I hope that the NAACP and other Black Organizations will fight this to the bitter end because it is nonsense.
Classmates, please keep this fellow Mother in your prayers!!
White House Releases President Obama's Birth Certificate Today
By Rachel Rose Hartman Wed Apr 27, 9:14 am ET
The White House on Wednesday morning released the president's long form birth certificate (pdf) in an attempt to put "birther" questions to rest.
"The President believed the distraction over his birth certificate wasn't good for the country. It may have been good politics and good T.V., but it was bad for the American people and distracting from the many challenges we face as a country," White House Communications Director Dan Pfeiffer said in a statement.
The President had released his certificate of live birth in 2008, but many "birthers" said the absence of a long form birth certificate prompted questions about Obama's birthplace of Hawaii. In recent weeks potential GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump has brought birther questions into the forefront of the media.
"At a time of great consequence for this country--when we should be debating how we win the future, reduce our deficit, deal with high gas prices, and bring stability to the Middle East, Washington, DC, was once again distracted by a fake issue," Pfeiffer said. "The President's hope is that with this step, we can move on to debating the bigger issues that matter to the American people and the future of the country."
Obama admitted at a White House press conference following the document's release Wednesday morning that he's been both amused and puzzled by the degree to which his place of birth has become an issue.
The President echoed Pfeiffer's statements saying that Americans and their representatives need to come together to solve issues such as how to "invest in our future" while tackling the federal deficit and federal debt:
But we're not going to be able to do it if we are distracted. We're not going to be able to do it if we spend time vilifying each other. We're not going to be able to do it if we just make stuff up and pretend that facts are not facts. We're not going to be able to solve our problems if we get distracted by sideshows and carnival barkers.
Though the President didn't mention Trump by name, Obama noted that when he announced his deficit plan this month, his birth certificate, not our country's economic future, dominated the news that week.
Trump on Wednesday took full credit for the release.
"I feel I've accomplished something really really important and I'm honored by it," Trump said at a press conference held during his pre-scheduled visit today to New Hampshire. Trump noted that people have long been requesting the document, but Trump was the only one who got the president to release it. Trump suggested Wednesday this development will boost his own potential presidential candidacy.
Trump said he and others are still going to have to assess the document's authenticity. We're "going to look at it. We have to see if it's real, if it's proper," Trump said. But he added that he's "sure it's the right deal" and is looking forward to moving on to more important issues such as OPEC and China.

Saturday, April 30, 2011 On Their 3rd Wedding Anniversary: Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon: The Proud Parents of Twins
Associated Press - April 30, 2011 8:20 PM PDT
NEW YORK - Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon celebrated their third anniversary with another milestone — becoming parents to a baby girl and boy.
Carey's representative, Cindi Berger, confirmed the births to The Associated Press. The singing superstar gave birth Saturday at 12:07 p.m. EDT at an undisclosed hospital in Los Angeles. Berger says the baby girl was born first, weighing 5 pounds, 3 ounces, and was 18 inches long; her brother was next, at 5 pounds 6 ounces, and was 19 inches.
Berger says the couple has not named the children yet. Cannon drove Carey to the hospital in their Rolls-Royce Phantom. Berger said the 41-year-old Carey, who had gone through false labor, was calm, thinking that it was another false alarm.
Meanwhile, the 30-year-old Cannon was so nervous he went to the wrong department at the hospital, and was guided to the maternity ward by a nurse.
"It was like right out of an 'I Love Lucy' skit," said Berger.
Berger says they were listening to Carey's "We Belong Together" after the children were born.
The couple are expected to renew their wedding vows on Sunday. The pair got married in 2007 after a whirlwind romance. They were the subject of endless baby rumors, and the couple actually were expecting shortly after their marriage, but Carey had a miscarriage; they did not reveal the miscarriage until she announced her pregnancy last fall.
The couple plan to live a bi-coastal life, and have luxurious nurseries in both New York and Los Angeles.
As far as more children, Carey recently declared she's done.
CONGRATULATIONS NICK CANNON & MARIAH CAREY ON YOUR TWIN BOY & GIRL!!

Osama Bin Laden Is Dead, President Obama To Announce It Very Shortly
By Laura Rozen
Osama bin Laden is dead, and the United States is in possession of his body, President Barack Obama is expected to announce shortly.
The death of the Al Qaeda mastermind came about as the result of an as yet unspecified U.S. military action, according to CNN and NBC News.
News networks were notified around 10pm that Obama planned to give a highly unusual address to the nation on an unspecified national security matter at approximately 11pm from the White House East Room.
Bin Laden's body is no longer in Afghanistan, CNN further reported. A full autopsy will be performed to confirm the body belongs to bin Laden, whose DNA the U.S. has been in possession of.
The announcement of bin Laden's death comes on the eighth anniversary of former President George W. Bush's controversial "mission accomplished" statement aboard the U.S.S. Abraham Lincoln after the U.S. invasion of Iraq.
WASHINGTON – Osama bin Laden, the glowering mastermind behind the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks that killed thousands of Americans, was killed in an operation led by the United States, President Barack Obama said Sunday.
A small team of Americans carried out the attack and took custody of bin Laden's remains, the President said in a dramatic late-night statement at the White House.
A jubilant crowd gathered outside the White House as word spread of bin Laden's death after a global manhunt that lasted nearly a decade.
"Justice has been done," the President said.
The development comes just months before the tenth anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks on the World Trade Centers and Pentagon, orchestrated by bin Laden's al-Qaida organization, that killed more than 3,000 people.
The attacks set off a chain of events that led the United States into wars in Afghanistan, and then Iraq, and America's entire intelligence apparatus was overhauled to counter the threat of more terror attacks at home.
Al-Qaida organization was also blamed for the 1998 bombings of two U.S. embassies in Africa that killed 231 people and the 2000 attack on the USS Cole that killed 17 American sailors in Yemen, as well as countless other plots, some successful and some foiled.
We all need to take hold, of how precious life really is,
and not take for granted the gift of love and the ability to give.
Thank you to God for creating us all
For giving us our mothers
So we can stand proud and tall.
Humans are no accident, no mistake or error
We sometimes live our lives in fear of this , Even to the point of terror.
But when the truth is told, and recognised by all,
God does not create rubbish. He knew what he was
doing when he created
me and you, but the best gift of all, is giving
us loving, caring
Mothers who love us unconditionally through and through.
None of us are perfect, that includes ourselves and family.
Hold onto how precious we are and thank God for our mothers.
Amen

"Don't you see that children are God's best gift, the fruit of the womb his generous legacy? Like a warrior's fistful of arrows are the children of a vigorous youth. Oh, how blessed are you parents, with your quivers full of children! Your enemies don't stand a chance against you; you'll sweep them right off your doorstep." (Psalm 127:3-5)

You think of all that you have learned and how you’ve come so far
The dream that you are living now was once a distant star.
The obstacles you made it through, the blood and sweat and tears
How the faint small voice within you helped to overcome your fears.
And now it’s time to rest you think from all that you’ve been through
But that still small voice within you says "You’ve another job to do.
For there are those who long and hope to fulfill their dreams someday
So share your words, help clear the path so others might find their way."
"You have so much to offer now, it’s a shame to let it lay
Go within you, find the strength to begin it now, today.
And use your sweet life lessons, with others you can share
And help as many as you can to also make it there."
This guidance rings within you, knowing deep you can’t ignore
It’s this same small voice that got you through when you felt so weak before.
You go within and seek the strength to help all those out there
Who really seek your guidance and the following you share....
"The answers are available to any who will seek
Just take the time and go within when you are feeling weak.
The blessings are unlimited with so much left to spare
When things seem hard just persevere, and you too, will get there."
"Find within you Gratitude no matter how things seem
Express it each and every day while working toward your dream.
And magically as you express all things your grateful for
The key you seek will then appear that opens up the door."
"Your life long dreams will be attained if only you'll believe
Just focus on them daily and soon you will achieve.
All the things you long for and all you dream to do
Just persevere and keep on going and soon you’ll see it through."
"All these things will manifest that you have dreamt to do
If you will only follow this plan that’s laid for you.
Just keep it fresh upon your mind and daily go within
Above all else don’t ever quit and you will surely win!"
"And when you reach that pinnacle, stop a while and rest
But jump back in and show the way to all those who request.
By following this guidance and helping all you can
You will have fulfilled your purpose and the Universal Plan."
We each were sent here for a time a mission to complete
False teachings learned along the way we must now learn to delete.
And each must search and find within their own unbiased truth
And recall the reason you were sent, which you knew once in your youth.

Just follow each and every word, no matter how things seem.
And keep your desire in focus, hold the outcome in your mind
Ignore those who'd belittle you and your treasure you will find."
An "Inner Knowing" lights your path as you're shown what is to be
The steps to take are "crystal clear" the plan is plain to see.
You start to take the steps toward your ever perfect plan
With an unexplainable "knowingness" uncommon for a man.
The excitement that’s within you grows as your dreams start taking form
Some days seem so effortless while some you bare the storm.
But on those days you persevere, stay focused and believe
Remembering the voice within that promised you'd achieve.
Those times the dark clouds gather and it seems you can’t get through
And all those in your circle say, "There’s nothing you can do."
You dig down deep within you, find some energy somewhere
And keep on trudging forward cause you know you’re almost there.
When the seeds that you’ve been sowing just won’t seem to grow
So much time and effort spent with so little fruit to show.
With the tools that you’ve discovered, you nurture them with care
Then keep on planting more and more, knowing soon you will be there.
Regardless of what others say, you think back on that day
Reflecting now upon the price you knew you’d have to pay.
You refocus on your vision all the good you have to share
And keep your fire burning cause you’re sure your almost there.
When you’re feeling worn and tired and you’re ready to give in
Your worldly thoughts start telling you there’s no way you can win.
You visualize the sunny skies don’t fall into despair
And keep on taking baby steps cause you know you’re almost there.
And then one day it happens, the light starts breaking through
All the effort you’ve put forward starts producing what you knew.
The joy you feel inside you shows, excitement fills the air
Your proud of your accomplishments cause now you’ve made it there.
Through your determination and the guidance that you sought
The answers came upon you, when you were least distraught.
The guidance that you longed for could never make it through
When the sabotaging doubts and fears were indwelling you.
When you look back on the challenges this goal has put you through
You see them now as benefits, it’s because of them you grew.
You’ve learned that fear and anguish block the guidance that you sought
That those few times you felt cut off were due to your own thought.

But the more you seek, and the more you find, the more you feel at peace.
Your search goes on new truths revealed with every passing day
How could it be those childhood lessons have caused you to lose your way?
Confusion mounts frustration grows as you seek to find what’s right
The road seems dark and lonely as you journey toward your plight.
But soon the fog starts lifting and as you learn to clear your mind
A faint little voice within you says "Keep seeking and you’ll find."
You keep on searching deeper, you know the answer's there
You ask your God to help you, and say a little prayer.
And then one day that inner voice speaks up once again
"All the answers that you're seeking, can be found if you'll look within."
"It's outside interference that keeps truth from coming through
Just go within, grow quiet child, and you'll discover what is true.
Your struggle to awaken is due to your own choice
It's due to all the noise out there that drowns the "inner voice."
"Discern and differentiate the teachings of your youth
The limiting and false beliefs you now perceive as truth.
It is due to man made teachings that make your spirit tire
For they are such that interfere with achieving your desires."
"You've been told the dreams that you hold dear are far beyond your means
That what you long to experience is reserved for kings and queens
Your only limitations are based on what you believe
Shed these limitations learned and you will soon achieve."
"Awaken and become aware of all you say and think
Doing so will provide you with that one last missing link
For it is these that shape your outcomes each and every day
Learn to change them starting now and you'll have found your way."
"As you learn to discipline your thoughts and rambling mind
Each answer that you seek today, you will surely find.
Then learn to recognize the voice that leads you on your way
Take action on it's guidance, and do so without delay."
"Discover how to separate from falsehoods you perceive as truth
Those false beliefs that you were taught and absorbed while in your youth.
Now walk the path and take the steps I've revealed to you today
Be persistent, persevere and you will find your way."
"There will be days that you will doubt what you have learned today
Just understand that life will throw some obstacles your way.
But as they come just realize and deep within you know
Each of them is happening as a means to help you grow."

"Life's Journey Poem: Recalling Your Life Purpose"
Each of us is sent here with a purpose to unfold
Each given only so much time to complete before you’re old.
Upon arrival you are sure of the plan to be unfurled
But as you grow you then absorb the teachings of the world.
You’re taught about the things in life, what’s real and right and true
You’re told by those that love you most what you’re suppose to do.
You're taught about what’s right and wrong based on what they believe
To often shown your limitations, not what you can achieve.
You continue on your journey and do the best you can
To follow this direction, these established ways of man.
You stay within the boundaries of these things you're told are true
Knowing little of the damage long term that they can do.
Through this ensuing process your memories get weak
Your once held purpose since replaced, with the material things you seek.
The plan that you were sent here for, now a distant memory
It’s the earthly teaching you’ve received that makes it faint you see.
As life goes on you start to sense that you have lost your way
Not realizing yet that false beliefs have brought you here today.
Achieving all that they have claimed would bring you happiness
There’s still a hunger deep within, these "things" cannot suppress.
You search for deeper meaning, you long to find the truth
Not just what others say is right and taught you in your youth.
But true answers to your questions that point you toward the light
Which lead you toward that once known path, and brings your purpose back in sight.
You’ve come upon a place in life, there’s unrest in your soul
The path that you’ve been following leaves you feeling less than whole.
You begin to seek your purpose, that which you were sent to do
You reflect on many things you’ve learned but few of them ring true.
So many things that you were taught you find to be untrue
Innocently by those you love who taught you all they knew.
The more you learn the more your mind resists this newfound news
It goes against what’s stored within and creates conflicting views.

Toys: NO DEAL
It's tempting to buy toys for only $1. But there's definitely a trade-off in quality. Many dollar-store toys are cheaply made and they can be dangerous when they break.
Baby toys should generally be avoided because they will go directly into the mouth, and dollar-store toys may have unsafe levels of lead and phthalates, which are a class of chemicals found in soft plastics.
Canned food and other pantry items: NO DEAL
You may be able to get these cheaper elsewhere. For example, our nearby dollar store sells Green Giant canned vegetables and Goya beans for $1 a can. But we found the exact same items at Walmart for less, and generic brands at even bigger savings. Dollar-store cake and brownie mixes come in smaller packages so watch the unit price. Also, you should keep an eye on the expiration dates on food at the dollar store. They may be near or past their freshness date.
Batteries and Electronics: NO DEAL
Consumer Reports warns that dollar store electronics and extension cords may have fake UL labels and could be unsafe. It's better to spend a little extra for quality and safety. Also, cheap batteries may be prone to leakage, or may not run your gadgets as long as pricier brands. Many dollar stores sell carbon-zinc batteries which are less efficient than the alkaline variety.
Cooking and Dining Accessories: DEAL
We found spoons, spatulas, cheese graters, ice cream scoops and more at the dollar store for 50% to 90% off the prices at Target and Walmart. We also spotted wine glasses, dining plates and flatware for less. Almost anything is a good buy in the kitchen department, with the exception of knives, which may be flimsy or dull.

Seasonal or holiday items, such as Valentine's day, Easter eggs and Christmas tree decorations: DEAL
Dollar Store Deal
Pregnancy Tests: DEAL
Babies are expensive from the very beginning. The cheapest pregnancy test at our local Walgreens cost $8. But you can get one at the dollar store for a buck. Both are 99% effective, both test for hormone levels with similar sensitivity. And at $1 a pop, you can afford to test and re-test as much as you like if you simply don't believe your eyes.
No Dollar Store Deal
Aspirin, ibuprofen and other medications: NO DEAL
Consumer Reports warns that aspirin and other medications may be left on the shelf past their expiration dates. It also points out that some labels may not say where the medicine was manufactured.
While there haven't been any safety concerns about dollar-store meds, generic aspirin from your local pharmacy or supermarket is probably a better bet -- and may not cost too much more.
Dollar Store Deal
Gift Wrapping Supplies: DEAL
You can get a 20-foot roll of gift wrap at the dollar store for a buck, while you'll pay at least three times that at big-box and party-supply stores. Gift bags cost up to $5 at other stores, depending on size. But at the dollar store, all sizes are $1. We also found huge savings on tissue paper, up to 75% off prices elsewhere. And don't forget the Scotch tape!

No Dollar Store Deal
Vitamins: NO DEAL
Don't scoop up your vitamins at the dollar store. Consumer Reports found that dollar-store multi-vitamins didn't always have the amount of nutrients claimed on the label. And others didn't dissolve fast enough to be absorbed by the body. You may be better off getting vitamins from a well-known store brand, such as Rite Aid, Walgreens or CVS.
Dollar Store Deal
Greeting Cards: DEAL
Greeting cards are nice, but are they really worth $4? We think it's the thought or sentiment that counts, not what you spend. Our local dollar store has a big selection of cards for every occasion, at 50-cents each. They're good-quality, too, so the recipient won't even guess that you scrimped.
No Dollar Store Deal
Basic School Supplies: NO DEAL
While the dollar store has decent deals on many school supplies, we didn't find them to be much better than the prices at Walmart.
For pencils, notebooks, highlighters, crayons, glue sticks, scissors, sticky notes and more, it's best to stock up when they go on sale during back-to-school season (August-September). The rest of the year, you can hit either the dollar store or Walmart with confidence

Best and Worst Dollar Store Buys
When you're trying to save money, the dollar store can seem like a magical place. Abracadabra, everything's a buck or less! But just because something's inexpensive doesn't make it a good buy at such retail establishments.
We went shopping to find out what's a good deal at the dollar store, and what's not:
Party Supplies: DEAL
Everything from party invitations to decorations to balloons are worth buying at the dollar store. For instance, foil balloons easily run from $3 to $8 a pop at party-supply stores, gift shops and supermarkets. But you can get them for $1 each -- helium included -- at the dollar store.
Goodie bags, party favors and color-coordinated paper plates, napkins, cups and plastic cutlery are also a good buy.

Cleaning supplies: DEAL

'Now you know why there's no birth certificate' jokes Tea Party member in racist email showing Obama and parents as chimps
By Daily Mail Reporter
Last updated at 6:54 PM on 17th April 2011
He later apologised.

Love and Blessings, Phoebe

If life were without water, where would we be?
If life were without mothers,
There would be no you or me.
We all need to take hold, of how precious life really is,
and not take for granted the gift of love and the ability to give.
Thank you to God for creating us all
For giving us our mothers
So we can stand proud and tall.
Humans are no accident, no mistake or error
We sometimes live our lives in fear of this
,
Even to the point of terror.
Amen
