January 17, 2011: Martin Luther King Jr. Day (Holiday)!!

Monday, January 17, 2011, Martin Luther King Jr. Day in the United States. All federal, state, county, and city offices and services, including the U.S. Post Office will be closed in observance. The holiday honors the birthday of the civil rights leader, which is actually Jan. 15. It is observed on the third Monday of January each year.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. once said, "Life's most persistent and urgent question is: 'What are you doing for others?'" Each year, Americans across the country answer that question by coming together on the King Holiday to serve their neighbors and communities during the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service.
