The Toy Story3 Movie Is Now A Part OfThe Billion Dollar Movie Club

A few weeks after breaking the record for the highest-grossing animated flick of all time, Pixar's "Toy Story 3" has just become only the seventh movie ever to rake in $1 billion in worldwide box office receipts. The Wrap reports that Disney announced the movie crossed the ten-digit threshold on Friday, making the studio the first to have two billion-dollar earners in one year ("Alice in Wonderland" being the other 2010 release).

The third, and reportedly final, installment in the ground-breaking trilogy drew near universal critical praise and earned $404 million since it opened in June, making it the highest grossing flick of the year.

    Other Billion Dollar Movies Are:
    2-The Dark Knight
    3-Alice In Wonderland
4- Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest
5-Lord Of the Rings:The Return Of The King

Martha Stewart revamps 'The Simpsons' Home for the Holidays in Dec. 5th Christmas episode

A look inside the Simpsons' home -- which Martha decked out for the holidays

    Martha Stewart's next stop: Springfield.

The home décor guru is set to revamp America's most famous cartoon family's home on the December 5th episode of "The Simpsons," according to EW.com.

Stewart will play herself on the Christmas-themed episode, and naturally she will help the family decorate their Springfield home for the holidays.

And leave it to Martha to come up with uber-crafty DIY projects for the whole family.

“Marge is upset that the rest of the family has no Christmas spirit, so Martha comes in and, with military efficiency, completely changes things around,” Executive Producer Al Jean told the outlet. “She tapes up Bart’s and Milhouse’s mouths, sticks ping-pong paddles on their backs, and makes them into wooden soldiers.”

She even uses baby Maggie's head to spray paint stars on the windows. Homer also gets in on the Martha treatment.

“He’s just sleeping on the couch with a copy of Modern Fart Denier magazine on his stomach, so she puts a cute Christmas display with a little train over him,” added Jean.

Jean commended the real Martha Stewart on her fantastic sense of humor about herself, reports the outlet.

The episode airs Dec. 5 on Fox.

Grammy Nominated Singer, Rap Musician : Nate Dogg Passed Away On 3-15-11

    (Born-August 19, 1969 or December 31, 1969 to March 15, 2011-Died: 41 years old)

Four time Grammy Nominee: Rap musician and singer Nate Dogg (born Nathaniel Dawayne Hale) on August 19, 1969 or December 31, 1969, in Long Beach, CA; has performed on dozens of hit rap and R&B records, but he began his singing career in the gospel choir of New Hope Trinity Baptist Church in Clarksdale, Mississippi, where he sang and practiced three days a week. He continued to sing at the church, where his father, Daniel Lee Hale, was the pastor, until he moved back to Long Beach, California, at the end of his freshman year in high school. After returning to California, Nate became close friends with his cousin Calvin Broadus (rapper Snoop Doggy Dogg) and with Warren Griffin (rapper Warren G), when all were attending Jordan High School in Long Beach. Nate Dogg soon grew tired of his studies and left school at the age of 16. He joined the U. S. Marines, where he served for three years before returning home.

Upon his return, Nate Dogg rekindled his interest in music by forming a rap group with Snoop Doggy Dogg (now known as Snoop Dogg) and Warren G. The group, named Three The Hard Way after the 1974 Gordon Parks blaxploitation film, began to record songs and shop their demo tape to area producers. Soon after changing their name to 213 (after the Long Beach telephone area code), the group's tape reached the hands of rap super-producer Dr. Dre (Warren G's stepbrother), who began to work with Nate and Snoop Doggy Dogg for the classic 1992 album The Chronic. Nate added his soulful vocals to the hardcore gangsta lyrics of "Deez Nuts," an album cut featuring Snoop Doggy Dogg, Warren G, and Daz. Word of Nate Dogg's vocal talents quickly spread, and he appeared soon after with Mr. Grim on "Indo Smoke" and with Snoop Dogg on "It Ain't No Fun." In 1993 he signed with Dr. Dre and Suge Knight on their Death Row label and began working on his solo album.

Although the completion and release of his own album was frequently delayed, Nate Dogg continued to contribute his talents to the music of the West Coast's hottest rap artists. In 1994 he and Warren G released the Grammy-nominated hit "Regulate," which used a sample of Michael McDonald's single "I Keep Forgetting" to help recount a wild night of sex and violence in their native Long Beach. Over the next few years Nate Dogg would become rap music's most prominent singer, providing the choruses for numerous artists on the East and West Coasts, including Pharaoh Monch, 50 Cent, Mos Def, and Mac 10.

Although Nate Dogg's greatest moments have come as a guest on some of rap music's most memorable hits, he has also found time to develop a prolific, though uneven, solo career. In 1996 he completed his first album, G-Funk Classics Vol. 1. Due to problems with Death Row Records the album was shelved, despite the success of his debut single "Never Leave Me Alone." Nate Dogg left Death Row Records in 1997 and formed his own label, Dogg Foundation, through Celestial Breakaway Entertainment. After a long battle with Death Row Records over the rights to the album, Nate Dogg released the album along with 15 new songs in what would be G-Funk Classics Vol.1&2. While the album's first single, "Nobody Does It Better," was released to warm reviews, the entire album was not well received by fans and critics, and the album was largely dismissed by critics for its dated sound. As Stephen Thomas Erlewine of All Music Guide remarked, "It was a case of bad timing, pure and simple—G-Funk Classics sounded dated, and its bloated running length made it seem even more of a dinosaur than it actually was."

After his Dogg Foundation label folded, Nate Dogg released Music & Me for Elektra Records. The album, which reached gold status, was highly regarded by critics for its stronger production and improved lyrics. Reggie Royston of the St. Paul Pioneer Press noted, "While no song on Music & Me ever quite rises to the dramatic dexterity of Barry White, or even R. Kelly, it's Nate's ability to produce understated, catchy vocal parts dragged from the subconscious of disco radio that makes this album as listenable as any Funkadelic record."

Like many rap artists, Nate Dogg's career has been marred by legal troubles. In 2000 he was accused of kidnapping, arson, terrorist threats, and domestic violence, after being arrested outside of his Pomona, California, house. At the time, police officials reported that Nate Dogg had beaten his ex-girlfriend and held her at gunpoint in a Los Angeles home, setting her car on fire after she escaped and contacted the police. Although five of the six charges were immediately dropped, he was forced to stand trial for possession of a firearm as a felon, based on a 1996 drug case. After pleading guilty in exchange for a lesser charge, Nate Dogg was given three years' probation and a $1,000 fine. In 2002 he was arrested on drug and weapons charges, after his tour bus was pulled over for speeding and police found him in possession of four ounces of marijuana and a stolen handgun. He pleaded guilty and was sentenced to one year of probation, 24 hours of community service, eight hours of drug treatment, and a fine of more than $4,000, in exchange for a dismissal of the weapons charge.

Despite his legal problems and fluctuating solo career, Nate Dogg has remained one of rap music's most sought-after vocalists. In 2002 he lent his talents to cinema with a part in Chris Rock's film Head of State. More recently, he reunited with Warren G and Snoop Dogg to finally release a 213 album, titled The Hard Way. The album, a collection of relaxed summer G-funk tunes, was released in August of 2004 to brisk sales and warm reviews. Although the microphone time is dominated by Snoop Dogg, the album, like West Coast rap music, would not be the same without Nate Dogg's vocals.

ABC-TV Cancels "All My Children", and "One Life to Live" Soap Opera Shows Today

NEW YORK (AP) -- ABC is canceling the soap operas "All My Children" and "One Life to Live," both programs that have been on the network's daytime lineup for more than 40 years.

The move leaves "General Hospital" as ABC's only daytime drama.
ABC's daytime department president Brian Frons said Thursday that "viewers are looking for different types of programming these days."

Soap operas have slowly been fading as a TV force, with many of the women who made up the target audience now in the work force. ABC will air two new shows, one about food and the other about lifestyle transformations.

    -------------------------------------------------

Soap fans are no doubt outraged today. ABC has canceled two legendary daytime dramas, 'All My Children' and 'One Life to Live.'

Rumors have swirled all winter that one of the soaps might be canceled. I'm not sure anyone thought the network would axe both of them.

("The final episode of 'All My Children' will air in September 2011 and 'One Life to Live' will end January 2012"). They are replacing the soaps with new shows: 'The Chew' and 'The Revolution.'

Susan Lucci: 'All My Children' Marked 'Fantastic Journey'
    By Corinne Heller

Susan Lucci says her time playing Erica Kane on "All My Children" has been a "fantastic journey.

The show is set to air its last episode in September 2011 and another soap opera, "One Live To Live," will broadcast its series finale in January 2012, Disney/ABC Television group, parent company of OnTheRedCarpet.com, announced on Thursday, April 14.

Both shows have been on the air for more than 40 years.

"It's been a fantastic journey," Lucci, 64, said on Thursday in a statement obtained by OnTheRedCarpet.com. "I've loved playing Erica Kane and working with Agnes Nixon and all the incredible people involved with 'All My Children. I'm looking forward to all kinds of new and exciting opportunities."

Aside from "All My Children," Lucci has also appeared on shows such as "Dallas, "Hope & Faith" and "That's So Raven." She released a book called "All My Life: A Memoir" in March.

"All My Children" celebrated its 40th anniversary in January 2010. Lucci joined the cast full time in 1980. Lucci had last month expressed her optimism regarding the future of the show, which had recently been the target of cancellation rumors.

"All My Children" and "One Life To Live" have each earned more than 40 Emmy Awards. "All My Children" and took home an Emmy for Outstanding Drama Series in 1992, 1994 and 1998. "One Life To Life" won the award in 2002.

    -------------------------------------------------
    -------------------------------------------------

I grew up watching these shows with my Mom, and I too am outraged. Daytime TV will not be the same!! First they take away all of our good Black TV Shows and now this. But I am so....glad that we have our Black Cable TV Networks: BET, TV One, and Centrix.

    Love and Blessings, Phoebe

Sinbad's NEW Reality Show Set for Tuesday Night on WE tv
    April 12, 2011 07:55 AM EDT

Sinbad's reality show, Sinbad: It's Just Family, debuted Tuesday April 12, 2011 at 9 p.m. on WE tv. The reality show focuses on his life outside of the stage. The comedian is also hoping that it will help re-launch his career.

Hopefully, the funny man will be seeing his dreams become a reality. There are a few people in Hollywood who have lost as much as Sinbad has and somehow, he's bounced back. Sinbad: It's Just Family will follow the ups and downs of the comedian's life with his wife (whom he married twice), Meredith, and his two children: Paige, 25, and Royce, 22.

When asked about why he chose to do a reality show, Sinbad said, "There are a lot of reality shows out there, but this wasn't so much about the reality part. It's about being creative. There's a new thing we got going on now in L.A., and that's called doing a creative reality show."

Well, if there's one thing that can be said about Sinbad, it's that he is definitely creative. With any luck, he will be able to differentiate his show from the other reality shows out there. It would be great to see him everywhere again.

Toni and Sisters in 'Braxton Family Values'
    (04-14) 04:00 PDT New York - --

If you think all the bickering the Braxtons do on their new series is for the benefit of the cameras, think again - it's definitely the real part of this reality show.

The sisters proved as much after the cameras stopped rolling on the first season and they promoted the new WEtv show "Braxton Family Values" with a visit to the Associated Press.

As the five sisters - Toni, Traci, Towanda, Trina and Tamar - sat tightly together in a TV studio, getting touch-ups on their hair and makeup, there was obvious tension. Once the interview began, one-word or short answers were given. Shortly afterward, their publicist knocked on the door.

"I just want to talk to them. Can we stop for a minute?" she asked.

As the women went into another room, arguing was heard. But when they returned minutes later, they were all cheery - ready to promote their new show.

When Toni re-answered why she decided to do the show, she said it was part of her "becoming 2011." She then checked in on her sisters for approval.

"How am I doing, ladies?" she asked. In unison they replied: "You're doing good."

Toni, 43, is the family's shining star. Her first two albums sold 8 million each, while most of her others were multiplatinum or gold successes. She's won six Grammys, among other accolades, and more recently appeared on ABC's "Dancing With the Stars."

The other sisters have tried to find success in music, but that's been a challenge. Tamar released her debut CD in 2000, and it peaked at No. 127 on the Billboard charts. She's married to Vincent Herbert, the record executive who discovered Lady Gaga; Herbert also manages Toni's career.

Tamar, Towanda and Trina released an album as the Braxtons in 1996. Traci wasn't able to perform with the group since she became a mother at a young age and was devoted to her family. Now, Tamar and Trina sing backup for Toni, Towanda works as Toni's assistant and Traci yearns a return to the stage.

The sisters said they don't have a problem being eclipsed by their more famous sister.

"It's always a comparison and it's always going to be a comparison forever and ever and ever," middle sister Towanda said.

"You just have to be your own individual," added Tamar, the youngest of the clan at 34.

Last year Toni filed bankruptcy for the second time, and in 2009 she separated from her husband.

The mother of two boys - her younger is autistic - opened her doors to the world in 2003 for the VH1 reality special, "VH1 (Inside) Out: Toni Braxton - Family Comes First." Still, she says she was hesitant to let cameras back in her life on a larger scale.

"I reneged a few times after I said, 'Yes, we can do the show,' " she said. "But over time my sisters said, '... You have to become current. ... (Fans) want to feel like they're sitting in your living room and it's important that you convey that to your fans.' "

Phoebe Snow, Who Sang 1975 Hit 'Poetry Man,' Dies

By MARK KENNEDY, Associated Press Mark Kennedy, Associated Press – Tue Apr 26, 11:16 am ET

(Phoebe Snow & Friend Chaka Khan)

    (Phoebe Snow in 2009)

NEW YORK – Phoebe Snow, a bluesy singer, guitarist and songwriter who had a defining hit of the 1970s with "Poetry Man" but then largely dropped out of the spotlight to care for her disabled daughter, has died.

Snow, who was nominated for best new artist at the 1975 Grammys, died Tuesday morning in Edison, N.J., from complications of a brain hemorrhage she suffered in January 2010, said Rick Miramontez, her longtime friend and public relations representative. She was 60.

Snow's manager, Sue Cameron, said the singer endured bouts of blood clots, pneumonia and congestive heart failure since her stroke.

"The loss of this unique and untouchable voice is incalculable," Cameron said. "Phoebe was one of the brightest, funniest and most talented singer-songwriters of all time and, more importantly, a magnificent mother to her late brain-damaged daughter, Valerie, for 31 years. Phoebe felt that was her greatest accomplishment."

Known as a folk guitarist who made forays into jazz and blues, Snow put her stamp on soul classics such as "Shakey Ground," "Love Makes a Woman" and "Mercy, Mercy Mercy" on over a half dozen albums.

Not long after Snow's "Poetry Man" reached the Top 5 on the pop singles chart in 1975, her daughter, Valerie Rose, was born with severe brain damage, and Snow decided to care for her at home rather than place her in an institution.

"She was the only thing that was holding me together," she told the San Francisco Chronicle in 2008. "My life was her, completely about her, from the moment I woke up to the moment I went to bed at night."

Valerie, who had been born with hydrocephalus, a buildup of fluid in the brain cavity that inhibits brain development, was not expected to live more than a few years. She died in 2007 at age 31.

Over the years, Snow found time to sing on Paul Simon's song "Gone at Last" and tour with him, as well as perform at the Woodstock 25th anniversary festival in 1994, as part of a soul act that included Thelma Houston, Mavis Staples and CeCe Peniston.

Snow was also recruited by Steely Dan's Donald Fagen to participate in the New York Rock and Soul Revue, which took her, Charles Brown, Michael McDonald, Boz Scaggs and others on tour and into New York's Beacon Theatre to record a rollicking live album in 1991.

"Occasionally I put an album out, but I didn't like to tour, and they didn't get a lot of label support," she told the Chronicle. "But you know what? It didn't really matter because I got to stay home more with Valerie, and that time was precious."

She was born Phoebe Ann Laub to white Jewish parents in New York City in 1952, and raised in Teaneck, N.J. Though many assumed she was black, Snow never claimed African-American ancestry.

She changed her name after seeing Phoebe Snow, an advertising character for a railroad, emblazoned on trains that passed through her hometown. Snow quit college after two years to perform in amateur nights at Greenwich Village folk clubs.

Her first record, "Phoebe Snow," came out in 1974, and showed off her songwriting chops on a selection of tunes that spanned blues, jazz and folk. Hit-bound "Poetry Man" took the record to No. 4 on the album charts, but her success was uneasy.

"There are turning points in everyone's life where you decide if you're going to sink or swim. My insecurity wasn't serving me well at all. It was really a stumbling block," she told The Associated Press in 1989.

Rumors abounded that Jackson Browne was Poetry Man. "No, no. It's somebody you wouldn't know. People just thought Poetry Man was Browne because he was the first act I toured with," Snow told USA Today in 1989.

After 1976's gold-selling "Second Childhood," Snow's subsequent albums found smaller audiences. Through the 1980s and into the 1990s, Snow sang commercial jingles — for companies including Michelob, Hallmark and AT&T — and performed live here and there.

Inexperienced in the music business, she broke a number of contracts with record companies and others, and found herself embroiled in a number of lawsuits and severe financial problems. Snow's husband, musician Phil Kearns, left her while Valerie was still a baby.

She sang the theme for NBC's "A Different World" and the jingle "Celebrate the Moments of Your Life" for General Foods International Coffees. She also sang at radio host Howard Stern's wedding to Beth Ostrosky in 2008 and for President Bill Clinton, who asked her to perform at Camp David during his presidency.

In 2003, she released the CD "Natural Wonder," her first album of new, original material in 14 years. Her other albums include 1989's "Something Real," and 1981's "Rock Away." In 2008, she released a live album titled "Live" and a best-of CD in 2001.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I had the opportunity to see Phoebe Snow in person back in the mid 70's when she came to my College - San Diego State University to do a concert. I was intrigued first by her name because I rarely had ever heard of another Phoebe so I was compelled to go and check her out. I had never heard of her before back then; but after that Concert I was one of her biggest fans, I went right out the next day and bought her album. I actually thought back then and for all these years that she was a black woman because she rocked a fro'; but it really does not matter now that I know differently. She rocked the house that evening with her unique voice and her unique style of singing Jazz/Folk Music. Singing and incorporating Aretha songs and Al Jarreau's songs in her repertoire along with singing her own songs and playing her guitar. She could really sing. It was truly something different and great at the same time.

    May she R.I.P.!!

Love and Blessings, From Another Phoebe

Whitney Houston Checks Herself Into A Drug/Alcohol Outpatient Treatment Program

LOS ANGELES - SINGER Whitney Houston is undergoing treatment again for drug and alcohol addiction, her spokeswoman said on Monday. The multiple Grammy Award-winning diva has enrolled in an out-patient programme rather than a residential facility.

'Whitney Houston is currently in an out-patient rehab program for drug and alcohol treatment. Whitney voluntarily entered the program to support her long-standing recovery process,' publicist Jill Fritzo said.

Houston, 47, one of the top-selling female artists of all time with hits like I Will Always Love You, launched a comeback in late 2009 after battling drug addiction for years.

But her performances on some legs of her 2010 concert tour proved troubling. In the opening leg of her British tour a year ago, she appeared short of breath. In Paris she was hospitalized with a respiratory infection and postponed several dates. And in Australia she was panned by fans and critics.

In April 2010, she called media reports that she was using drugs again 'ridiculous'.

Celebrity website TMZ.com said on Monday that Houston enrolled in the rehab program about 10 days ago, and is allowed to go out in public as long as she has a monitor. TMZ cited an unidentified source as saying Houston was cleansing her system to get ready for a new movie. Details were not available. -- REUTERS

(PEOPLE) -- Tamera Mowry got her dream wedding on Sunday when she married Fox News Channel correspondent Adam Housley in Napa Valley.

The "Sister, Sister" star, 32, and Housley, 39, tied the knot at an inn and vineyard surrounded by 300 guests. Mowry wore a wedding gown by Carolina Herrera as she exchanged traditional vows with Housley.

"I've always wanted an outdoor wedding with lots of flowers," Mowry tells PEOPLE of the day planned by event planner Mindy Weiss. "I feel so lucky to have this beautiful day marrying my best friend."

Among the bride's eight bridesmaids were maid of honor Andrea Regalado and Mowry's twin sister and matron of honor Tia Mowry.

Housley and his eight groomsmen, including brother and best man Arik, wore tuxedos and Converse sneakers.

"I feel so blessed to be marrying such an amazing man," says Mowry. Adds Housley: "Tamera is beautiful inside out."

During the ceremony, performed by pastor Dudley Rutherford, the couple presented their parents with long stemmed roses.

"We wanted to honor them, because without their love and support we wouldn't be the people we are today," Mowry explains.

For the reception, Mowry changed into a two-piece ensemble by Dolce & Gabbana before joining the guests for a sit-down dinner that includes a four-tiered wedding cake by Sweetie Pies.

For a sophisticated yet rustic wine-country look, event designer Eden Rodriguez decorated wooden farm tables with pale pink and white hydrangeas and roses, olive branches with olives and hundreds of white candles.

For the first dance, the newlyweds will dance to Journey's "Faithfully" before surprising their guests with a performance to LL Cool J's "Going Back to Cali."

After a third outfit change by the bride -- this time into a dress by Herve Legera -- the schedule called for an after-party inside a barrel room with dancing to a DJ from San Francisco's KMEL radio station.

Late night snacks include a taco truck and dessert from Sift cupcakes.

"You can tell they're best friends," says Weiss of the newlyweds. "They have a great mutual respect for one another."

Mowry, who starred with sister Tia on "Sister, Sister," next appears on the reality series "Tia & Tamera Take 2" this summer on the Style Network.

Beyoncé Helps Revive The Billboard Music Awards

(Associated Press, Sunday, May 22, 2011)

After five years of dormancy since 2006, the Billboard Music Awards were revived Sunday, May 22, 2011 with a major dose of star power.

Rihanna got the show off to a steamy start, wearing a skimpy leather outfit for her hit song “S&M,” and was joined at the end of the number by Britney Spears, who appears on a remix on the track.

Taylor Swift won the evening’s first award, as top album artist, behind the multimillion sales for “Speak Now.”

“The impact of an album is all determined by the fans,” she told the audience. “You’ve just given me another reason to be completely in love with you.”

Other award winners included Justin Bieber (digital artist) and the Black Eyed Peas (top duo/group).

Houston-born Beyoncé received a special Millennium Award for her career achievements: The 29-year-old phenomenon was lauded in a video by an array of legends and luminaries, including Stevie Wonder, Barbara Streisand, Bono, Lady Gaga and first lady Michelle Obama.

“This is a moment I have to soak in because it’s gonna be — and it is — one of the best moments of my life,” Beyoncé said after getting the award from her mother, Tina Knowles.

Beyoncé also performed her new song, “Run the World (Girls).”

Parents Tina and Mathew Knowles, First Lady Michelle Obama, Lady Gaga and more sang Beyonce's praises during a special tribute to the former Destiny's Child frontwoman. Beyonce was honored with Billboard's Millennium Award at just 29-years-old, but that doesn't mean she hasn't earned the respect of some legendary performers.

During a prepackaged segment that aired just before Beyonce took the stage on Sunday night (May 22), Barbra Streisand, Bono and even Stevie Wonder shared their thoughts on the "Run the World (Girls)" singer.

"Beyonce has made history and she's not even 30 yet," Stevie Wonder said. "She is able to go many different places but keep still that class and I like that."

"In addition to being just a beautiful young woman, she's been a role model and a powerful presence for young girls and women all around the world," Michelle Obama added. "I'm very proud of her."

Lady Gaga weighed in, telling Beyonce: "You are so much more than just a pop star or an icon. You represent the dream."

Possibly the most unexpected Beyonce fan to come out of the woodwork this evening was the legendary Barbara Streisand, who said: "Great performers have a sound and style that is all their own. And that's why so many people love Beyonce. And so do I."

U2 frontman Bono added, "She makes songs that will live forever."

Beyonce was honored with the actual hardware by her own mother, Tina Knowles, during the live broadcast. During her acceptance speech, she thanked not only her parents, but former Destiny's Child bandmates Kelly Rowland, Michelle Williams as well as original Destiny's Child members LaTavia Roberson and LeToya Luckett. Much to our excitement, she also gave a shoutout to her "best friend" and husband Jay-Z, saying "I love me some Jay-Z."

This year marks the Billboard Awards’ rebirth. The Billboard Awards had been a staple since 1989, but gave out what appeared to be its last award in 2006. This year, the show was brought back.

It was held in Las Vegas, broadcast live on ABC and hosted by “The Hangover 2’” star Ken Jeong.

The Billboard Music Awards are given out to music’s most popular artists. The finalists and winners are determined by their rank on the Billboard charts and their “social and streaming activity.”

    Winners included:

-Album Artist of the Year – Taylor Swift

-Digital Artist of the Year – Justin Bieber

-Song of the Year – Dynamite by Taio Cruz

-Country Song of the Year – Need You Now by Lady Antebellum

The Last Final Oprah Winfrey Talk Show Is Broadcast

Oprah Winfrey dedicated a "love letter" of thanks to the audience during her last appearance. Footage courtesy of Harpo Productions.

Veteran talk show host Oprah Winfrey's final programme broadcast on Wednesday after 25 years on the air.

The 57-year-old, widely regarded as one of the world's most influential women, pre-recorded the show on Tuesday.

The talk show queen was seen alone on stage, telling viewers how much they mean to her.

The finale follows a two-day special farewell show at the United Center in Chicago, which Madonna and Beyonce took part in.

Fans who watched Winfrey record the final show said she had tears in her eyes as she bid farewell one last time.

"She said, 'This isn't goodbye. This is until we meet again'," said audience member Amy Korin.

"[There was] a lot of crying and hugs," Ms Korin added.

The Oprah Winfrey Show, which is syndicated in 145 countries, redefined the talk show genre and made Winfrey one of the most influential women in the US as well as the wealthiest black woman in the world.

The star, who recently relinquished her position as Forbes magazine's most powerful celebrity to Lady Gaga, announced in November 2009 she would be leaving.

At the time she told audience members the final season would "knock your socks off."

On her 25th and final series she was filmed dancing on stage with John Travolta and took an entire audience to film in Australia.

Other season highlights included interviews with President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama, former President George W Bush and Michael Jackson's family.

The double episodes filmed in front of 13,000 fans went out earlier this week and saw Tom Cruise, Aretha Franklin, Tom Hanks and Stevie Wonder pay tribute to the presenter.

In January, Winfrey launched her own TV network, which will offer round-the-clock lifestyle programmes.

The channel is called OWN, or the Oprah Winfrey Network and is a joint venture with the Discovery channels.

Gil Scott-Heron Dies; Influential Poet/Musician Helped Inspire Rap

    May 27, 2011 | 7:49 pm

Gil Scott-Heron, whose late 1960s and early '70s poetry set to rhythmic jazz music, especially "The Revolution Will Not Be Televised," was one of the most important and obvious inspirations for rap music, has died, according to his British publisher.

The poet and musician, who had long struggled with drug addiction, had in the past two years returned into the public eye with an acclaimed solo recording, "I'm New Here," and a follow-up remix album done by Jamie xx of the British group the XX. Scott-Heron was 62.

Last year the New Yorker published a reverent but heartbreaking profile of Scott-Heron by Alec Wilkinson. Written after Scott-Heron had recorded "I'm New Here" but after he had relapsed and was smoking crack openly in front of the reporter, the story traced his rise, his fall and his influence.

In an interview for the feature, bassist Ron Carter, who played on "The Revolution Will Not Be Televised," described Scott-Heron's allure: "He wasn't a great singer, but with that voice, if he had whispered it would have been dynamic. It was a voice like you would have for Shakespeare."

In the same story, which is behind a paywall here, rapper Chuck D. discusses the role Scott-Heron played in the birth of rap: "You can go into the beat poets and [Allen] Ginsberg and [Bob] Dylan, but Gil Scott-Heron is the manifestation of the modern world. He and the Last Poets set the stage for everyone else. In what way necessary? Well, if you try and make pancakes and you ain't got the water, the milk or the eggs, you're trying to do something you can't. In combining music with the word, from the voice on down, you follow the template he laid out. His rapping is rhythmic. Some of it's songs. It's punchy, and all those qualities are still used today."

Neicy Nash Ties The Knot on Saturday, May 28, 2011 at Vineyard in Malibu, Ca.

Niecy Nash is a blushing bride!

The former "Clean House" star and host wed electrical engineer Jay Tucker on Saturday May 28, 2011 in an outdoor ceremony at the Church Estate Vineyard in Malibu, Calif., the reception took place in a tent, according to E! News.

At her first wedding more than 16 years ago, actress and former Clean House host Niecy Nash tied the knot a in a quinceaçera gown and had "a Styrofoam heart in the middle of the table," she told PEOPLE in January. "It was just a mess."

    Not today.

"I have to say, this second time around, it feels custom," Nash said about her engagement to Tucker. "Even after I got my divorce, the ink wasn't even dry on the paper, and I said, 'Ooh, the next time I become a wife, I got this thing down pat!' I always believed that there was someone built for me."

    Sleepless Nights Before

Nash chronicled her sleepless nights and excitement over the past few days on Twitter, hinting at details – "My auntie brought me a custom hankie and my grandma's blue sapphire ring".

The couple exchanged vows in front of 200 guests, including "The View" co-host Sherri Shepherd, who served as a bridesmaid, and matron of honor Sheryl Lee Ralph. "The Game" star Wendy Raquel Robinson and "The Talk" co-host Holly Robinson-Peete were also included in the wedding party. Guests stayed at the Huntley Hotel in Santa Monica.

Nash's former "Dancing with the Stars" partner, Louis Van Amstel, attended the couple’s nuptials as well as DWTS Evan Lysacek and Erin Andrews. Former Clean House colleague Mark Brunetz, and renowned interior decorator Martyn Lawrence-Bullard, also attended.

"The wedding was beautiful and of course it wouldn't be as special without Niecy Nash throwing in some humor," she wrote Saturday on Twitter. "You look stunning, Mrs. Tucker!"

"This was one of the best days of my life!" Nash told Life & Style after tying the knot. "It was a dream come true to be surrounded by family and friends as I married the most wonderful man. I celebrated so hard, I'm sure the angels in heaven were telling me to be quiet!"

Nash, 40, and Tucker became engaged last September after dating for a year. This is the second marriage for Nash, who split from ex-husband Don Nash in 2007, they have three children together.

Fans of the Style Network star will get a chance to watch a behind-the-scenes look of what went into her big day on "Niecy Nash's Wedding Bash," a two-hour TLC special airing on June 4 at 8 p.m. ET/PT.

Could the wedding special be the first in a series of shows for Nash? As she told PEOPLE earlier this year, "There's a lot of women out there, some of whom are my age who've never been married and some who have been married and would like to be married again but think their ship has sailed, and I'm like, 'Oh no, honey, let Miss Niecy show you it is never too late for love!'

Added Nash: "And now since I've got Sherri Shepherd set up, I've got my sights set on a few more folks. I think I can help Brandy find a man. Let me tell you, if I could pick the project of all projects, it would probably be Kate Gosselin because if I can help Kate find a man? I can help anybody!"

    A TRIBUTE TO MICHAEL JACKSON

Whatever you may think of him (whether bad or good) there is no denying that Michael Jackson was a Musical Genius sent on earth by God to give us all a Legacy of his Incredible Talent. Every single time that I hear a Michael Jackson song a smile comes to my face and for the most part I start dancing.

Thank You God for letting us enjoy Michsel's amazing talent (that ONLY YOU ALONE COULD GIVE HIM) and that he gave to the world. R.I.P. Mr. Michael Jackson on the 2nd Anniversary of Your Passing. YOU WILL ALWAYS BE REMEMBERED DEARLY!!

God has given each of us different talents and abilities that He expects us to put to good use. We shouldn’t hide our talents, but instead we should use our talents and abilities for the glory of God.

    Colossians 3:23-24
Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.

    Romans 12:6-8
We have different gifts, according to the grace given us. If a man’s gift is prophesying, let him use it in proportion to his faith. If it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach; if it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is contributing to the needs of others, let him give generously; if it is leadership, let him govern diligently; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully.

Singer Sly Stone Homeless In Los Angeles

Yes, Sly Stone, the famous lead singer for the funkadelic R&B band Sly & the Family Stone, is living in a white van Los Angeles.

The singer, songwriter, and record producer, soared to success in the late 1960s and early 1970s. The multi-racial, multi-gender band become one of the most influential of its era. The band's first big hit was "Dance to the Music" and that was followed by "Everyday People" in 1969. But Stone and his band reportedly became heavy illegal drug users after their success, and the band eventually broke up.

Stone is now living and composing on a laptop out of a camper van parked in front of a house in Crenshaw, the New York Post reports. The Post says that a retired couple allows the 68-year-old to shower in their house and feed Stone once a day.

Some have described Stone's slide as a morality tale about abuse of illegal substances and financial mismanagement.

Stone told the Post: “I like my small camper,” he says, his voice raspy with age and years of hard living. “I just do not want to return to a fixed home. I cannot stand being in one place. I must keep moving.”

Four years ago, Stone was living in a Napa Valley mansion.

Born Sylvester Stewart, the second of five children, he grew up singing in church. He emerged as the family's own prodigy, playing keyboards at age seven and mastering guitar, bass, and drums by age 11.

Over the years, Stone has had several "comeback" albums. His latest release, "I'm Back! Family & Friends," came out last month, and features collaborations with Jeff Beck, Bootsy Collins, Ray Manzarek, and Ann Wilson.

Michael Jackson: Doctor's Trial Begins With Emotion And Drama

Michael Jackson's Family Members Arrive To The First Day Of The Dr. Conrad Murray Trial

    Dr. Conrad Murray

The trial of Michael Jackson's doctor got underway in dramatic fashion Tuesday with the deceased star's voice echoing through a darkened courtroom, the physician weeping at the defense table and a 'King of Pop' impersonator spinning down the courthouse hall.

As dozens of satellite news trucks lined the streets outside the courtroom, Dr. Conrad Murray entered the courthouse Tuesday morning with his mother, followed shortly after by the Jackson family, including Michael Jackson's parents, Joe and Katherine, and his famous siblings Janet, Latoya, Jermaine and Randy.

After brief comments to the jury by Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Michael Pastor, Deputy Dist. Atty. David Walgren kicked off his opening statement by saying, "Michael Jackson literally put his life in the hands of Conrad Murray."

"That misplaced trust cost Michael Jackson his life," the prosecutor told the panel of seven men and five women.

During his hour-long address, Walgren showed a photo of a deceased Jackson on a gurney. He also played a recording of the heavily drugged and rambling pop star from about six weeks before his death.

"When people leave my show, I want them to say, 'I've never seen nothing like this in my life,' " the singer mumbled on a recording that the prosecution said was made on Murray's iPhone.

"That is what Conrad Murray is seeing and observing on May 10, 2009, and what does he do with that knowledge and information? On May 12, he orders another shipment of propofol and midazolam," Walgren said.

As Jackson's slurred voice echoed through the courtroom, Katherine Jackson grew tearful. Biting her bottom lip, she removed her glasses to blot her eyes. La Toya Jackson reached across her father to hold her mother's hand, while Janet Jackson peered down the row at her mother.

Murray stared intently at the PowerPoint screen but later kept his head down, occasionally jotting down notes.

Murray, who is charged with involuntary manslaughter, violated standards of medical care by leaving Jackson unattended and failing to call 911 when he found Jackson stricken in bed, Walgren said.

"Dr. Murray was working for $150,000 a month. He was an employee, he acted as employee. He did not act as a medical professional using sound medical judgment," Walgren said.

In the defense's opening statement, attorney Ed Chernoff said Jackson died immediately from a combination of tranquilizers and a surgical anesthetic he took without Murray's knowledge.

Chernoff said evidence would prove that Jackson swallowed enough prescription drugs to "put six of you to sleep" and then self-administered propofol, the surgical anesthetic. He said Murray was out of the room at the time.

Murray wiped away tears as his lawyer described him as a hard-working and dedicated doctor who spent his career working in the poorest neighborhood of Houston.

Part of the defense strategy is, in effect, to put Jackson and his alleged addiction on trial.

Chernoff said Jackson told Murray that he had used propofol to sleep for years and he taught the doctor how to use the drug. He said Murray was trying to wean his patient from the drug at the time of his death.

"The evidence is not going to show you that Michael Jackson died when Dr. Murray gave him propofol to sleep. What the evidence is going to show you is that Michael Jackson died when Dr. Murray stopped," he said.

Chernoff suggested that another Jackson doctor, Arnold Klein, bore some blame for the singer's death. He said Klein addicted Jackson to Demerol, sometimes injecting him with 1,000 milligrams in a single week, and withdrawal from the drug caused the singer's crippling insomnia.

Klein will not testify during the trial, but defense attorneys plan to show jurors his medical records.

    R.I.P. Dear Whitney!!
When I heard the news on Saturday February 11, 2012 that our "Dear Sista Girl" Whitney had passed away; my heart stopped. I was truly hoping that a mistake had been made. I am personally one of Whitney's biggest fans. I have followed Whitney's career from the very start. I have every Album, Music Cassette, Music CDS, VHS Movies, DVD Movies, Concert Videos/DVDs, Magazine Covers, and much more on my Sista Girl Whitney. My heart aches for her family, for her friends, for her fans, for her church members, and for anyone else who loved Whitney. Whitney Houston has left an angelic and indelible mark in our lives and in history. The back to back losses of MJ and Whitney are very hard to take. Their legacy of music will live forever until eternity. My prayers of sympathy and condolences go out to the Houston and Brown family. Although it seems way too soon I guess God needed her & MJ in His Heavenly choir.

Love you guys and God bless us all.

    Sincerely and with much sadness,
    Phoebe Macon

P.S. Excuse my late posting Alumni (but my computer has been down for over a week and although I am on it right now, it still needs more repair!!)
