My baby brother was just diagnosed with prostate cancer. He never went to the doctor for yearly check up. by the time they found out he had it, it had spread to his spine and right side of his brain but he says they told him they have zapped most of it out of him and that he could live another 5 to 6 years he is so lucky. So Men get you check ups.

The only way they found it is he went to jail and kept complaining his back was hurting and when they checked him they found the cancer.  So Men Get Your Check Ups

Your brother is very lucky that it was caught and treated.  I had a recurrence after 8yrs, the good news is after all the bone scans and testing, the pc was still in the gland and did not go to any other parts of the body, bones or organs. I was very blessed to have the recurrence treated in the early stage.  It does pay to have at least an annual prostate cancer check up.  There are organizations who will test african-american men  for free who do not have medical insurance.
Good on you Brother, for bringing up this important subject. Many men don't like to talk about a prostate exam, I know I didn't until a close friend of mine didn't survive his Cancer. Now I get a exam yearly along with an annual Physical. The  Real Men Cook Foundation, the Trinity Baptist Church in Los Angeles, 100 Black Men and many Fraternities host free cancer screenings and education progams. Early detection can mean a saved Life.
Thank you Nick for the resourse information.  Although there has been so much controversy in the news lately regarding the testing for prostate cancer, it is so important for african american men who are at the highest risk for developing prostate cancer to get the check-up, it saves lives.
