SAN DIEGO -- Authorities say a student has admitted she hung a noose in the library at the University of California, San Diego.

The revelation on Friday has further ignited racial tensions on the campus two weeks after an off-campus party mocked Black History Month.

Hundreds of people rallied on campus to discourage racial intolerance
after the noose was discovered.

Campus police say the noose was found hanging from a bookshelf Thursday night. A University of California statement says a female student has claimed she and two other students were responsible. It was unclear if she will be charged with a hate crime.

The school has been in turmoil over an off-campus "Compton Cookout" party organized by some students that urged people to dress as ghetto stereotypes.

RACISM IS ALIVE AND WELL !!

This is absolutely terrible that this is still happening in the year 2010. It's so sad!!
THIS WAS A BLATANT ACT OF "RACISM." It shows a very cowardly action (the act of cowards) on the part of whoever did this or whomever was involved in it. It shows a blatant disrespect and disregard for "ALL" BLACK STUDENTS attending the University. It is downright even more shameful for it to take place during BLACK HISTORY MONTH!!

Whomever did this should be identified and arrested because THIS IS A HATE CRIME AND IT MUST BE NIPPED IN THE BUD. The students should also be expelled and not allowed to graduate. Every Black Person in this country should be outraged and appalled by this because they have gone absolutely too far. (IT WAS NOT LONG AGO THAT A BLACK MAN WAS TIED UP AND DRAGGED TO DEATH BY TWO WHITE MEN BACK SOUTH & LET"S NOT FORGET WHAT HAPPENED AT COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY & JENA, LOUISIANA WITH THE JENA "6")!! I look forward to seeing what if anything will be done about this situation at UCSD!!

Thanks for the info. Wayne !!

God Bless Us All !!
