Hello Apache Alumni & Friends!


This letter is to inform you that a Centennial High School Alumni Association Meeting took place yesterday evening August 31, 2010 at 7:00pm at Centennial High School in the Library. The New Centennial High School Football Coach (Jimmy Nolan) was there to speak about the plight of the Centennial High School Football Team. Centennial High School Principal (Sonya Bankston-Cullen) and Centennial High School Vice-Principal (Rudy Zendejas), as well as the CHS Alumni Association Members were in attendance.


The first order of business on the Agenda was introductions of everyone. Next Agenda item was getting an update on the needs of the Football Team. Coach Nolan stated that right now a big need is for a Football Trainer for the Team. The second thing that the Coach needs help with is transportation. He needs Volunteers to help take the students home after Football practice. The practice time ends around 6:00-6:30pm Mon.-Wed. and they have a short practice on Thursdays. Practice ends at 4:00-5:00pm on Thursdays. When asked did the Football Team receive the Donation from Dawn Estill's c/o'78 (Company which is a Major Corporation in Athletic Gear) they said yes. The Football Team members were ecstatic and extremely happy to receive the Football Gear for the Team Members and said Thanks to all involved. One of the Team Members went on and on about the High-Quality of the Gear and stated that it is the same Top-Notch Gear that the Colleges and Pro's use. The Team was very very happy and said that receiving the Gear was like the best Christmas Gift ever (although it is the summertime)! Next, the Football Program Schedule was passed out to everyone with the first Varsity Game being on Friday, September 10, 2010 at 5:00pm. This will be a (Home Game) against Compton High School. Tickets prices are $5.00 each, Students & Senior Citizens (55 & Over) Ticket prices are $2.50 each. There will be a Special Section at the Game for Centennial High School Alumni so please come and support the team.


The next topic on the Agenda was to solidify the Centennial High School Alumni Association as one entity, where all Donations come to. The Centennial High School Alumni Association needs at least (one) Alumni member from each Class to participate in the Centennial High School Alumni Association to represent their Class.


Next on the Agenda was the need to establish a 501(c)(3) for Tax Exempt status to be established as a Non-profit Organization (which will take time). After filling out the State forms this may take up to 6 months before it is established.


The next Agenda item to be discussed at the next meeting is to set up a Bank Account to temporarily pool all Donations coming in for Centennial High School until the 501(c)(3) Tax Exempt status takes place. Also at the next meeting we will vote on Centennial High School Alumni Association Members (which will be a party of "3" People who will be responsible for the temporary Bank Account for donation monies coming in). That way no one can make a move without the signature of another. Another issue to take place at the next meeting will be to discuss and establish the By-Laws for the Centennial High School Alumni Association and Board Members.


The next scheduled Centennial High School Alumni Association Meeting will be Tuesday, September 14, 2010 at 6:00 - 7:30pm (in the Library). Meetings start on time, so if you can attend, please be there promptly.
