DeadVoter

Written By: Charles Nickels

Los Angeles: On Thursday, October 10th, 2013 in the downtown courtroom of Judge Luis Labin; at 1:30 p.m., a hearing regarding the upcoming election contest pitting former City Treasurer Candidate Jasper Jackson, against current City Treasurer Douglas Sanders, City Clerk Alita Goodwin and The City of Compton began. Represented by Attorney Ibisi and surrounded by throngs of Compton residents who’d chartered a bus to see the justice system evaluate the validity of Compton’s April primary, Jasper Jackson received from Judge Luis Labin and envelop full of evidence from the Judge which, according to several witnesses, contained information regarding thousands of potentially fraudulent votes. This, according to observers at the hearing, was and is the smoking gun that will ultimately lead to a new election and proof that the Compton 2013 primary was a fraud and did not freely reflect the will of the people.

IMG_0205 According to Lynn Boone, who helped organize the bus ride to and from court along with the always active Compton Concerned Citizens organization, the information contained in the sealed envelop which was passed over to Jasper by Judge Labin, is just a sampling of the inappropriate and in some cases illegal votes cast during the April 2013 primary. According to Ms. Boone there were several irregularities including: “Voter who are dead, double voting. Ghost voting and people who received compensation for their votes. I believe Jasper Jackson is doing a great job in representing the interest of the people of Compton. The fact that over fifty Compton resident attended the hearing is further evidence that a large number of people believe there was something wrong with the outcome in the April 2013 primary.”

Also in attendance at the hearing downtown was Dr. Lestean Johnson, the current President of the Compton Chamber of Commerce. Johnson described the atmosphere in the courthouse as “supercharged!” ‘Especially,” according to Johnson, “as the Judge announced that the trial would begin on December the 10th, of this year. This signaled the fact that the Judged believed there is enough evidence to formally examine the outcome of the election,” Said the Chamber President. “If the judge determines that there is sufficient evidence to suggest that the election did not represent the will of the people, the election results could be overturned.” Johnson commented. “I went to court simply as an observer. However it appears that Judge Labin is taking Jasper’s complaint very seriously. The community will simply have to wait and see what the results of this trial will be.” Jasper, however, will not be waiting.

“I intend on getting to the bottom of this! In America it is the basic fundamental right of the citizens to expect and receive fair and free elections. When that part of our democracy is broken, nothing else works! I intend on examining everything,” Said Jasper. “We have already discovered double votes, dead voters and much more! The people of Compton deserve better.” If Jasper’s allegations are true then this will be the second time in twelve years that Compton has been rocked with an election scandal.

Back in 2001 Mayor Omar Bradley sued the city to prove his election was stolen; and while Bradley was not available for comment, The Tribune has learned that much of Bradley’s complaint mirrors what Jasper has alleged. The outcome in Bradley’s trial resulted in the removal from office of Leslie Irving, a current candidate for The Compton College Board of Trustees. The removal from office, by Judge Judith Chirlin, of Leslie Irving for her acts during the 2001 Compton municipal election should send a stern message to anyone potentially involved in illegal electioneering. “These are serious violations of the law,” Said Jasper. “They are punishable by removal from office, financial restitution and even prison. I hope our elected official will be honest and receptive to the evidence I intend on presenting.”

Thanks for posting this "VERY IMPORTANT" City of Compton article "WebMaster" Wayne. I seriously hope that they get to the bottom of all of this fradulent behavior. It's been going on for way... too long. So let the chips fall where they may. It is way too much corruption going on in Compton, as well as the surrounding cities period. We don't have to look very far; just look what happened in the City of Bell. Now those elected officials (all except one) are paying the price for their actions.

These type of exploits are always so..... sad; very sad to hear about!!

Take care all & God bless!!
